About the Event

Among other splendid privileges, Barbecue is a Texan’s birthright.

Barbecue is a Texan’s birthright. Dallas Heritage Village and Four Corners Brewing Co. invite you to celebrate that birthright at a Father’s Day barbecue event like none other. Smell and taste barbecue cooking over an open pit, just like they did it in the nineteenth century when whole steers (alright, we’ll have just half a steer), goats, and hogs were more common than ribs and brisket. Don’t worry. We’ll have brisket too, from one of the best barbecue joints in Texas, Cattleack BBQ. The 44 Farms steer will be attended to by Austin pitmasters Evan LeRoy of LeRoy & Lewis BBQ and Aaron Franklin of Franklin Barbecue. Try sausages from Dallas’ own Smokey John’s BBQ smoked right in the old smokehouse on the festival grounds. Erin Smith and Patrick Feges are bringing some kicked up sides from Feges BBQ in Houston, and they’ll be serving cabrito supplied by Ben E Keith. So come mingle with pitmasters from around the state, and even one from North Carolina. James Beard award semifinalist Elliott Moss of Buxton Hall in Asheville will work his magic on some Red Wattle hogs from Legend Meats. Oh, and did we mention that Four Corners is brewing a special Berliner weisse style beer for the occasion? The beer and barbecue are all included in the price of admission as well as live music. In short, you might smell like wood smoke by the time you leave, but you won’t leave hungry. We’ll see you Sunday, June 17th.
